The Classes

The four elements are key to both Lucy’s and Sarah’s writing and are the cornerstones of writing about nature and magical practice. Join us for an elemental journey as we learn how to conjure and capture the elements with words.

Dive deep with Lucy to create powerful pieces of poetry and prose in immersive sessions that open space for rich exploration. Then shift energy with Sarah’s shorter sessions, with inspiring writing prompts to spark creativity and connection. Together, the course offers a full spectrum of writing practice – from thoughtful depth to spontaneous inspiration and whimsy!

Earth (Sarah): Step through mossy portals and listen to the land – this Earth-centered writing session invites you to slow down, attune to nature’s quiet magic, and discover the sacred stories rooted all around you.

Air (Lucy): How can we make the invisible visible? This is one of the challenges of writing magic. Lucy shares writing exercises based on the magic to be found in the air and the trees – you will create haiku, and learn to sketch with words and create a magical piece of writing about trees. Lucy reads from her most recent book, Crow Moon.

Fire (Sarah): From hearth to midsummer sun, this Fire session kindles creativity through warmth, transformation, and the bright flicker of inspiration woven into the turning seasons.

Water (Lucy): Shapeshifting and transformation are key aspects of magic. Water is the ideal medium to teach us about this magic. Many of the best-known shapeshifting creatures are sea dwellers, so with readings from her book , She of the Sea, and transformative writing exercises, Lucy will guide you in the magic of shapeshifting through words.

Welcome: Lucy shares her personal creative sanctuary with you, and invites you to discover your own in nature.

Meditation of Arrival (Sarah): Join Sarah for a meditation journey you can take before any of the writing modules to arrive and settle, leaving the noise of the busy world behind for a short spell. And connect to your creative spark.

Movement Medicine (Lucy): Join Lucy for a short movement journey you can take before any of the writing modules to stretch and settle into your body, getting ready to write. Stir your creative energy and let it flow through you.

The Creative Conversation Masterclass
